SFSC: Parenting Programme (in person)

We offer free Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) classes in person to help you strengthen your parenting skills to raise happy, successful children and improve your relationship.

The in-person group runs for 13 weeks. It gives you practical strategies to help strengthen family communication and bonding, increase parenting confidence and encourage your child to do their best at school.

The course also explores how parental conflict can affect children.

Travel and childcare costs can be covered, and each session includes a free lunch for you and your child.

Who it's for

SFSC is for all parents and carers of children aged 4 to 17. The programme is run in all communities with parents from lots of different backgrounds, including:

  • mums and dads, grandparents, foster carers and teen parents
  • those from different ethnic minority communities and faith backgrounds
  • those who speak different languages
  • those with disabilities or learning difficulties
  • those with different qualifications

What SFSC will support me with

SFSC helps you explore key parenting questions, such as:

  • how can I motivate my child to try their best at school?
  • how do I build a stronger, more positive relationship with my child?
  • how can I prevent my teenager getting involved in drinking, drugs, antisocial behaviour or truanting?
  • how can I encourage my partner to play an active role in my child’s life?
  • how can I set clear and consistent boundaries with my child?

Topics include managing behaviour, building positive routines, reducing stress and raising confident, resilient children.
