Childcare and early education in SEND
We know it’s important for children to feel safe, secure and happy when accessing early education and childcare. Early years childcare providers (nurseries, pre-schools and childminders) have a clear approach to identifying, supporting and responding to children’s needs. All children, including those with SEND are supported to learn at their own pace.
- all 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare a week
- working parents of 3 and 4 year olds can get up to 30 hours of free childcare a week
- 3 and 4 year olds who are not eligible for the 30 hours may qualify for an extra 15 hours under our Enhanced Offer
- Some 2 year old children (including children in low-income families and those in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or who have an EHCP) are also entitled to 15 hours of free childcare
- Best Start in Life's eligibility checker can help you see what support you can get.
Search for childcare providers by name or the type of services they provide. You can also limit the search to providers that offer free childcare funding for 2 to 4 year olds.
